Cleaning supplies are hardly something people ask for when they're moving or getting married (especially if it's their first place). In fact, it's usually the thing you realize you're missing only after you've made a mess and have no way of cleaning it up. When my husband (then boyfriend) first moved into an apartment with some friends, I got them a literal laundry basket full of supplies including:
- Kitchen towels (wash clothes and hand towels)
- Dish washing soap
- Dish scrub brushes
- Multi-purpose cleaner
- Paper towels
- Toilet Paper
- Sponges
- Broom and dust pan
- Toilet bowl cleaner
- Bathroom cleaner
Other ideas are a vacuum (a little expensive, but we've loved our $80 dirt devil), dish drying rack, gloves, car cleaning supplies, carpet foam (Resolve has worked great for me), and Febreeze or other air fresheners. You can do as much or as little as you can afford and it will still be a much appreciated gift.
